Illustration as a part of corporate identity
How do you choose a topic from today’s amount of information that addresses your target audience in the best way? We ask this question daily when we analyse the content of the messages: the information should be as informative as possible, but at the same time it should be comprehended quickly.
Starting point:
Metsä Group is a Finnish forest industry group operating internationally in 80 countries with a well-established visual brand image. However, Metsä needed a clear and brand-appropriate illustration style to describe its value chain and production processes that include a variety of stages.
What we did:
First, we collaborate with the customer on the basic idea of visualization, i.e. what kind of information we want to clarify. After this, our skilled design team creates an illustration, in which we crystallize and visualize the desired information in an easy-to-understand form. Among other things, we illustrate the different processes and make sure that the illustration style matches the brand’s visual identity. The finalised illustration image can be variated for different uses and the image can be utilized in, for example, annual reports, stakeholder communications, sales presentations and staff training.
Result:
It has been wonderful to see how our customers have found new ways of visualizing information. It is all about sharing information and creating new contexts. When the content is successfully illustrated, it frees up our capacity from understanding the information to interpreting and further exploiting the information.
Infographics is an excellent way to describe and clarify diverse issues. However, the design of infographics should always be done by the target group and consider in advance what is the goal of the graph in question.
